Black Friday on Steam

Steam is currently running a five-day-long-one-day-only sale. This is because of the American Black Friday celebration of consumerism. Due to the magic of the internet this special day has been exported around the world. It retains it’s sense of Americanism by defining it’s ‘days’ with American time (their midnight falls at about 16:00-ish here). The result of this has been a steady stream of good deals, and bending to the mighty marketing machine I bought two small games: Osmos and Lucidity which were £2 and £1.74 respectively.

I also bought Borderlands, for £20.09 it seemed like a good deal and I can play with friends as it’s co-op.
Possibly the best offer yet is Mirror’s Edge for £3.24 and I spotted a glitch in the page design:

Steam error 2The one on top is what I saw, the second one is what it should look like.

The ticking clock above the games puts pressure on people by giving them a time limit and results in impulse buying behaviour. I recommend checking Steam tomorrow as it’s the last day and they’ll have some more deals.
